Surgery

Our doctors at Deland Animal Hospital perform many surgeries, ranging from routine procedures such as spaying and neutering to more complicated ones such as cancer surgery and orthopedic work.

Dr. MacPhail has a special interest in orthopedic surgery and can fix many types of fractures, torn ligaments and hip problems.

  • Internal Medicine
  • Oncology

Dr. Ulbrich has a particular interest in these 2 fields. Pets with cancer require special care and can be successfully treated with various methods. Chemotherapy for our fellow friends has evolved dramatically over the last few years and can significantly improve their quality of life.

Dentistry

Nearly 80% of dogs and cats have some form of dental disease. Dental problems can lead to severe health threats such as systemic infections affecting the lungs and heart. Proper care is essential! Brushing your pet's teeth, proper diet and routine checks are important. Many pets require a dental cleaning. Your pet is lightly anaesthetized using isoflurane gas and the teeth are ultrasonically scaled, then polished and sealed..

Vet Stem
Stem Cell Therapy

A new and exciting procedure that can significantly help pets with osteoarthritis and some liver and joint problems! This therapy uses your pet's own, adult stem cells from it's own fat and there is no chance of rejection as there is with organ replacement. Vet Stem is the only veterinary stem cell therapy company that is backed by peer reviewed, approved, non biased studies for therapeutic use in animals. Vet Stem is also going to start a banking service, whereby cells can be harvested during routine procedures, on younger animals, before the need arises and avoids additional anesthetic procedures when the pet is older, which is the most likely time for a pet to need therapy. Dr. MacPhail and Dr Ulbrich have both been certified with Vet Stem to perform these procedures since January of 2010.

Laser Therapy

Therapy Laser

Laser therapy a sterile, pain-free, surgery free, drug free treatment which is used to treat a variety of injuries, wounds, surgical incisions, neurological conditions, arthritis, and other painful conditions. Whether your pet is recovering from trauma, injury or surgery, healing from wounds, or simply aging, your companion may benefit from this incredible new technology.

Laser therapy stimulates the body to heal from within. Non-thermal photons of light are administered to the body and absorbed by the injured cells. The cells are then stimulated and respond with a higher rate of metabolism. This results in increased circulation from the body, an anti-inflammatory reaction, relief from pain and an acceleration of the healing process.

Laser Surgery

Less Pain for your Pet!
Laser surgery has been widely accepted as a higher standard of care in human medicine for over 30 years. It presents a host of benefits over traditional surgery, and in many procedures, the can replace the scalpel entirely.

What are the benefits of laser surgery?

Less Pain.
Less Bleeding.
Reduced Swelling & Infection.
Quick return to normal activities.
