for Daytona Beach, Florida
Deep
Sea Fishing
The Daytona Beach area features
some of the best ocean fishingfound
anywhere. Marlins, with an emphasis
on blues, are found in the GulfStream.
Closer to shore, Sailfish, Dolphin,
King Mackerel, Wahoo and Tunaare
caught on trolled baits. On the
bottom around the numerous reefs,Grouper
and Red Snapper are the most avidly
sought species while the bruisingkingsize
Jack Crevalle and Amberjack provide
tackle busting variety. A fleetof
20-25 offshore craft, including
both private charter and party
boats sailsdaily, most from the
docks at Ponce Inlet.
Surf and Pier Fishing
Surf fishing here ia a year-round
sport. It requires onlymedium-weight
tackle and some shrimp or mullet
for bait. Hard-fightingspecies
like pompano, whiting, bluefish
redfish, flounder and Jack Crevallethrive
in the 23-mile stretch of fishing
area. Many varieties of fish fromthe
Ocean Pier in the heart of Daytona
Beach and the Sunglow Pier located
atthe southern end of the beach.
There is a daily charge; monthly
and seasonalpasses are also available.
River, Lagoon & Lake
Fishing
Cast your line from one of the
numerous fishing piers along the
Halifax, Tomoka and St. John's
Rivers. A fishing license is required
for out-of-state residents. Call

Need More Information?
If you are planning a trip
on a chartered fishing or party
boat, fishing off of a licensed
pier or are under the age of 16,
you won't need a fishing license.
